Penn State’s defense took a hit on Wednesday night, as James Franklin announced that starting safety Kevin Winston would be out with a “long term” injury.

It’s not exactly clear what happened to Winston. He played during the early portions of the Bowling Green game, and there was never a time he was down injured on he field. But at some point during the second quarter, he was seen on the sidelines without his helmet and never returned to the game.
