Rutgers — yes, Rutgers — is rolling heading into Penn State game

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Rutgers has faced Penn State in football 27 times, and won every one of those games.

Well, except for those 25 the Scarlet Knights lost.

Almost as impressive as that record is that all of their victories against the Nittany Lions have been earned during the past century.

Barely.

The most recent came in 1988, a scant 70 years after the first.

Rutgers has been, for a lot of years, the kind of opponent teams love to schedule for homecoming and, coincidentally enough, the Scarlet Knights will visit Beaver Stadium at noon Saturday in Penn State’s homecoming game.
