The Penn State Nittany Lions came into this game looking for their first 11-win regular season since 2008, when they won the Big Ten title. All that stood in their way was a Maryland team already eliminated from bowl eligibility, playing only for pride and a chance to ruin the Nittany Lions’ hopes of a College Football Playoff berth.
After Penn State fumbled the ball on the first offensive play of the game, the Terrapins looked like they were on their way to doing exactly what the Penn State faith feared. M.J. Morris, who came in for injured Billy Edwards, threw a beautiful pass to Kaden Prather, and all of a sudden, Maryland took a 7-0 lead to start.
