UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State’s offense couldn’t be slowed by rain showers, the start of Big Ten conference play or themselves.
Sooner, rather than later, James Franklin’s speedy young receivers, talented freshman running back and the offense’s familiar faces landed on the same page on the same night and posted numbers that Penn State fans could only imagine three weeks ago.
The Nittany Lions downed Rutgers, 28-3, under the Beaver Stadium lights Saturday night in front of a crowd of 103,323. The Scarlet Knights (1-2, 0-1 Big Ten) continue reeling from the suspension of head coach Kyle Flood and several key players.
