COLUMBIA — Top-ranked recruit and Missouri signee Michael Porter Jr. sat out of the Jordan Brand Classic on Friday to nurse a sore back.
He felt soreness in his back April 7 during the Nike Hoop Summit but decided to play and represent his country. Porter led Team USA to a 98-87 win over Team World with 19 points and four rebounds. He nursed his back Wednesday and Thursday in an attempt to play Friday. ZagsBlog's Adam Zagoria reported Friday that the soreness persisted, causing Porter to sit out the game.
Porter also played in the McDonald's All American Game on March 29.
