Pitt will take part in the 2017 Legends Classic at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, according to a report from CBS Sports.
The event, according to the report, will also feature Penn State, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M.
The Panthers have competed in the early season tournament twice since it began in 2007, winning it in 2008 and 2013. New Pitt coach Kevin Stallings also is familiar with the event, having guided Vanderbilt to the championship in 2011.
Under the event’s setup in recent years, Pitt would play two home games against opponents from smaller conferences before traveling to Brooklyn for its semifinal game.
