On an afternoon when he was peppered with dozens of questions, there was one that stuck with Pat Narduzzi a little longer.
Attending his first ACC football media day as Pitt’s coach, Narduzzi was asked about being a part of what the questioner termed “the Pittsburgh-Syracuse rivalry.” He collected his thoughts, took a deep breath and answered.
“Is it a rivalry?” he asked, cracking a smile. “I guess it’s a rivalry.”
The son of a football coach who grew up 70 miles from Pittsburgh, watching the Panthers regularly square off against regional rivals such as West Virginia and Penn State, Narduzzi’s confusion wasn’t feigned.
