Penn State president Eric Barron wants to create an “early warning system” to identify when fraternities have slipped academically or otherwise “so you can catch it before it becomes something you have to investigate or adjudicate.”
In addition, he said he’d like the university to raise the stakes for those fraternities to model better behavior by sharing with parents various benchmarks that would tell them what they can expect if a son pledges a particular organization.
“Here are all the characteristics — the success rate, the dropout rate,” he told editors of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on Thursday.
