CHICAGO — With new revelations this summer about the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal and former Penn State coach Joe Paterno’s knowledge of it, current Penn State coach James Franklin addressed negative recruiting at the Big Ten Conference’s media days Monday in Chicago.
From more than 200 former Penn State football players petitioning the school for the return of Paterno’s statue to a testimony claiming Paterno knew of Sandusky’s abuse as early as 1976, Franklin has had to deal with arising concerns about how these reports will affect his squad.
Franklin said he is really concerned about factors under his control, such as how his players perform academically, socially and athletically.
