Penn State's football season openers since 1996

Penn State opened the season on Aug. 25, 1996, at Giants Stadium against the University of Southern California with a 24-7 win. Sophomore tailback Curtis Enis had one of the greatest days in Penn State history, running for 241 yards and three touchdowns. Enis, No. 39, scores his third touchdown of the game in the fourth quarter.

Frank Strong of USC blocks a first quarter punt attempt by Penn State punter David Royer. The play resulted in a touchdown for the Trojans, Aug. 27, 2000.
