Former men's hockey forward David Goodwin and former women's lacrosse midfielder Abby Smucker were recognized with the Big Ten Medal of Honor on Tuesday, according to a GoPSUSports release.
Awarded to a male and female athlete from each Big Ten institution every year, the Big Ten Medal of Honor is meant to recognize achievement in athletics as well as academics.
Goodwin is a three-time All-Big Ten Honorable mention for his prowess on the ice, while also excelling in the classroom. He was named named an Academic All-Big Ten selection three times on his way to a double major in economics and Spanish.
