Penn State’s notable accomplishments on special teams in 2016 included the following:
*Tyler Davis, a former walk-on, claimed the placekicking job and put together an All-Big Ten season. Davis made 22 of 24 field-goal attempts and he converted all 62 point-after conversions en route to a 128-point season.
*True freshman punter Blake Gillikin, one of the top specialist recruits in the country, averaged 42.8 yards punt attempt with a long of 69 yards. He had 13 punts of 50 or more yards and placed 13 punts inside the 20.
*Penn State’s duo of safety Marcus Allen and corner Grant Haley teamed up to produce one of the most memorable plays in recent PSU history.
