Brady Berge’s performance at the Southern Scuffle last week proves he has what it takes to be a starter in the Penn State lineup.
Berge has competed with Jarod Verkleeren for the starting spot at 149 pounds since the beginning of the season, but the Scuffle may have been what he needed to put him on top.
Berge is ranked No. 9 at 149 and went 6-1 at the tournament to kick off the new year. As the four-seed in the tournament, he beat two ranked opponents, and his only loss came to No. 6 Mitch Finesilver of Duke in the semifinal round.
