Taking its first steps for the team’s fifth Big Ten Championship title in six years, Penn State advanced seven wrestlers to the semifinals of the conference tournament Saturday afternoon at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, Iowa.
After the first session, the Nittany Lions lead the pack in team points with 74. Iowa is in second place with 68 and Nebraska stands in third tallying 63.
Cael Sanderson’s squad came away with bonus points in 11 out of its 17 bouts, including four pins. Half of those pins came from senior 197-pounder Morgan McIntosh, who defeated both Jacob Cooper and Jake Masengale in the first period.
