Penn State closed out the fall semester winning nine of 10 bouts for a 38-4 victory Saturday afternoon over Rider in Lawrence Township, New Jersey, improving the team's record to 6-0.
Even still, the Broncs provided multiple wrestlers with challenging and exhilarating bouts. The most noteworthy matchups were at the 149-pound and 165-pound weight classes.
The 149-pound bout between Nittany Lion Zain Retherford and Bronc B.J. Clagon may have been low scoring, but gave the crowd plenty of excitement.
After three evenly fought periods of near pins, stalemates, and pushing each other off the mat, Retherford held on for a 2-1 victory due to his 1:52 riding time advantage, his 16th win on the season.
