For the eighth time in its last eight trips, Penn State is leaving the Southern Scuffle with a team championship.
With eight wrestlers in the finals Wednesday night, and 12 Nittany Lions battling in the medal round overall, Penn State closed out the tournament in Chattanooga, Tennessee, after scoring 216.5 overall points, a new Southern Scuffle scoring record.
Top-ranked Nittany Lion Mark Hall, who entered the finals with a pair of tech fall victories to begin the tournament, was the first Penn State wrestler to take the mat in the finals at 174 pounds, facing No. 8 Joe Smith out of Oklahoma State.
