As Penn State’s 125 pound wrestler, Nico Megaludis is used to leading off dual meets. However, before the No. 1 Nittany Lions’ (12-0, 7-0 Big Ten) 35-7 win over No. 6 Michigan (10-2, 5-1 Big Ten) at Rec Hall, it was another Megaludis who set the tone.
His sister, Alexa, sang the National Anthem.
“I told the guys to wait [to go out] until she was done, because I didn’t want to get nervous listen to her sing,” Megaludis said. “She’s pretty good. I don’t have those vocal cords.”
Both of the Megaludis siblings left the mat with their heads held high as Alexa crushed the “Star Spangled Banner” and Nico defeated Conor Youtsey 10-4 to open the meet.
