The Penn State wrestling team pulled off the almost impossible task of winning five of the 10 individual titles at last year’s NCAA Division I tournament.
It was only the fourth time in the 87-year history of the tournament that a team won that many titles. It earned the Nittany Lions a sixth NCAA team title in seven years.
All five champions are back for the Nittany Lions at the 2018 tournament, which began Thursday at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, but only two are seeded No. 1 in their weight class.
And despite having nine entries in the three-day tournament, including eight who are top-eight seeds, Penn State is not the favorite in the team race.
