Penn State wrestlers dominate Nittany Lion Open

Penn State coach Cael Sanderson knew there was a good possibility that his wrestlers would face each other during the Nittany Lion Open, but the team didn’t expect to have all four 165 pound grapplers make it to the semifinals.

Geno Moralli, the 165-pound champion, along with six other Nittany Lions, claimed the top spot of the podium on Sunday at Rec Hall.

Moralli defeated his teammate Shakur Rasheed, who is Penn State’s starter, in the final, 3-2, to earn his crown. Fellow Lion Garett Hammond took third and Cody Law finished fifth in that division.

“Geno had a pretty darn strong showing today,” Sanderson said.
