Penn State wrestler Zain Retherford beats former coach Frank Molinaro to earn spot on U.S. World Team

The Marine Corps. representative who shook Penn State wrestler Zain Retherford’s bloody hand Saturday night at the Bob Devaney Center in Lincoln, Neb., wasn’t fazed.

The blood dripping down the wrestler’s face was testimony of how grueling the best-of-three victory against his former coach, Frank Molinaro, was.

The hard-fought win earned Retherford his first spot on the U.S. Senior Men’s Freestyle World Team.

But to get there, he had to get past Molinaro.

Four-time All-American and 2016 Olympian Molinaro (Titan Mercury Wrestling Club) came from behind in the first match and scored late to take the opening 7-6 win over his former student at 65 kilograms.
