In his first year as an Olympian, Penn State wrestler Aaron Brooks’ final stop in Paris will come in the bronze medal match.
After Brooks’ narrow 4-3 defeat at the hands Bulgaria’s Magomed Ramazanov, the four-time NCAA Champion will see action versus Uzbekistan’s Javrail Shapiev.
Brooks won his first two bouts Thursday morning, including an opening-round victory against Kazakhstan’s Azamat Dauletbekov, the No. 1 seed at 86 kilograms.
Brooks’ next opponent, Shapiev, has enjoyed a solid run through the Olympics, recently defeating Canada’s Alexander Moore in a repechage match. Shapiev's victory came after falling to 86-kilogram finalist Ramazanov earlier in the Olympics, the same wrestler Brooks lost to in the semifinal.
