Penn State coach Russ Rose characterized the Big Ten conference as “clearly the strongest conference in the country.”
It’s a bold statement, but his reasoning is simple.
“Nine of the 14 schools are either ranked or receiving votes in the coaches poll,” he said. “It’s clearly the strongest conference in the country.”
The Nittany Lions open up conference play at home this weekend, first with Nebraska on Friday night and then with Iowa on Saturday.
Winning conference games has seemingly come easy to the Nittany Lions during this season, and every year of Rose’s tenure, where Rose’s record is 538-104 all-time.
