When the final horn sounded after the final match of the Penn State Classic against North Carolina, the only sounds one could hear in Rec Hall were the screams of joy coming from the No. 19 Tar Heels after their victory over the No. 9 Nittany Lions. The Lions were silent and they huddled in the center of the court as fans decked in navy and white filed out of the building.
Though they played well against the first two teams in the tournament and won both matches against Georgia Southern and West Virginia, the Lions fell short against the Tar Heels in five sets (25-16, 22-25, 25-21, 23-25, 9-15).
