After sweeping Northwestern in September, Penn State again won in straight sets at home on Friday.
“I thought it was a tough match,” coach Russ Rose said. “First game, both teams hit well over .400, and [in the] second game they outhit us, and then third game we finally had a more complete effort, but Northwestern’s playing hard.”
The Lions took an early 2-point lead in the first set, but the Wildcats rebounded with a kill from Symone Abbott, and after tying at 4, extended the lead after a service error from the Lions. The Wildcats maintained the lead throughout the set until the Lions called a timeout at 16-12.
