Penn State women's volleyball powers past Dayton into next round

The Dayton Flyers made sure their visit to Rec Hall wouldn't be a quiet one.

Armed with a rowdy group of fans that traveled from Ohio along with the longest winning streak in the country, the Flyers (27-6) battled Penn State (28-5) fiercely early on before conceding the final two sets to the Nittany Lions.

After dropping the second set, the Lions rebounded strongly to close out the match and earn their second victory (25-17, 13-25, 25-14, 25-17) in the NCAA tournament. The win propels the team to the NCAA Regional semifinals.

"Dayton is a terrific opponent and we feel fortunate to advance," coach Russ Rose said after the match.
