There was no revenge to be found for Penn State on Saturday. Only heartache.
The eighth-seeded Nittany Lions came into their regional final contest against Stanford with an opportunity to avenge their loss to the Cardinal from earlier this season, and advance to their second consecutive NCAA Final Four.
Instead, Penn State once again suffered a defeat at the hands of Stanford at Maples Pavilion in Palo Alto, California.
The Cardinal dropped the opening set and but would rally and withhold against a late charge from the Nittany Lions on their way to another victory over Penn State (18-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-16).
