Penn State women's volleyball beats Maryland in three sets

The beginning of Penn State’s match against Maryland started off shaky, resulting in 12 tied scores throughout the set.

Kendall Pierce remembered exchanging glances with her teammates, knowing if they could break the tie and get a few more points that it would slow down the game.

“You can’t just depend on someone magically to do it,” Pierce said. “I think all of us just put our one percent in — that’s been our quote of the year — we all kind of stepped up, and we took off.”

The Nittany Lions (25-4, 14-4 Big Ten) defeated the Terrapins (13-19, 3-15 Big Ten) in three sets Saturday night at Rec Hall, ending the week at 1-1, a record coach Russ Rose was not too impressed with.
