Penn State women’s volleyball alumni win bronze during 2016 Rio Olympics

After helping Penn State win two national volleyball championship titles in 2007 and 2008, alumni Christa Dietzen and Alisha Glass had another win for their team yesterday: the bronze medal.

After going professional in 2009 following her graduation from Penn State, Dietzen, class of 2009, also became a captain for the 2014 International Volleyball Federation World Championship team and the 2015 FIVB World Grand Prix team, where both took gold. As captain of the United States women’s volleyball team, the bronze in Rio was Dietzen’s second medal after earning the silver medal in the 2012 London Olympics.

“When I realized we'd get silver, my heart immediately switched to pursuing gold for another four years,” Dietzen said on her website.
