Penn State women’s tennis brings heat to Big Ten play

The Sunshine State was not just the destination for the spring break travelers who populated its sandy white beaches last week, but also for competitors from Penn State that fought toward improving their spring season record.

After a 4-0 loss against the University of Southern Florida and a closely contested 4-3 win against Florida Gulf Coast two days later, the Nittany Lions will return to Big Ten competition this weekend with an updated 4-7 season record.

“The score in the South Florida match was a bit deceiving. We had match points to win the doubles point, Kim [Surin] was up a set in her match and other matches were close deep in the second set,” coach Chris Cagle said.
