Penn State women's soccer thrives on fan energy despite lower attendance count than men's

Beaver Stadium had over 109,000 fans on Saturday, and on Sunday, Jeffrey Field recorded its highest attendance for a women’s soccer game this season with 2,045 fans.

Fans received special “wear white” shirts upon entry as No. 9 Penn State took on No. 5 Michigan State in a game that was nationally televised on Big Ten Network.

The Spartans attacked within the first five minutes and the Nittany Lions were unable to answer, losing 1-0. Coach Erica Dambach said that a strong crowd promotes a tough environment regardless of the score.

“It makes the players feel like they're the most important thing,” Dambach said.
