A pair of “Blue Bloods” battled it out in Chapel Hill on Friday night as Penn State took on North Carolina with a trip to the Women’s College Cup on the line.
The Nittany Lions fell 2-1 in extra time.
This matchup featured the two teams with the longest NCAA Tournament appearance streaks.
Within the first five minutes, the blue and white defense had already put its work in, with North Carolina holding most of the early momentum.
Penn State got its first close look at the net eight minutes into the match. A foul by Bella Gaetino allowed for a Nittany Lion corner kick.
