Everything gets more difficult when playing from behind, and Penn State learned that the hard way to begin the season.
The No. 19 Towson Tigers upset No. 4 Penn State in a nail bitter 14-13 to start the 2018 women’s lacrosse season, as the Tigers earned their first victory over the Nittany Lions in program history.
Both teams started the match by playing sluggish, which isn’t typical for Penn State. After the 20 minute mark, Towson picked up its play and capitalized off Penn State’s continued sluggishness by grabbing an 11-5 lead heading into halftime behind Gabby Cha’s three first-half goals.
