Penn State women’s lacrosse falls at Stanford

Penn State’s five-game winning streak finally came to an end.

Lucy Dikeou and Alex Poplawski led No. 14 Stanford (5-1) to an upset of the No. 8 Nittany Lions (7-2), 16-10, on Sunday afternoon in Palo Alto. The pair notched a combined eight goals in the victory, while the Lions scored their lowest total of the season.

The Lions registered more total shots than the Cardinal (30 to 27).

Dikeou tallied the first goal of the game after 54 seconds, and leading scorer Kelsey Murray joined her as the Cardinal jumped out to a 2-0 lead after less than two minutes.
