Penn State’s Madison Carter registered four goals in the Big Ten Championship game Sunday afternoon, but it proved not enough against the heat of the Maryland Terrapins.
The Nittany Lions fell to the Terrapins 21-12 at the U-M Lacrosse Stadium as Penn State falls to 10-9 on the year.
The Nittany Lions opened the game fast and strong with a goal from Maria Auth in the first 55 seconds. Maryland answered this opening goal with three consecutive goals, gaining a 3-1 lead over the Nittany Lions.
Senior Shelby Wells and Carter closed the gap in the score within two minutes of play, creating a 3-3 tie with 20 minutes left of the first half.
