Penn State (4-11-4) was outshot in all three periods, but the Nittany Lions were within striking distance entering the third as they only trailed by one goal.
But the third period barrage started early and buried the Nittany Lions' chances in a 4-0 loss in the first of a two-game series against the No. 10 Princeton Tigers.
Just 1:39 into the final frame, Cassidy Tucker made it 2-0 for the Tigers, building off of Molly Contini’s second period goal.
The Lions were able to keep the game within reach for the next seven minutes.
