Penn State women's hockey's dominates shot department in conference victory

No.12 Penn State began a home series against the Robert Morris Colonials in an AHA conference matchup.

The Nittany Lions entered the contest after outshooting their previous opponent 96-28 in a show of offensive dominance.

This trend has been prevalent throughout the season, as Penn State has more than doubled its opponents in shots taken, 529-249 — something that would continue this game as the Nittany Lions outshot the Colonials 43-20.

“With the volume of shots, we’re trying to make them more quality shots,” coach Jeff Kampersal said.

The offensive pressure started early for the blue and white as two shots were rattled off in quick succession from Kendall Butze and Stella Retrum — the latter of the two resulting in the first goal of the game to give Penn State a 1-0 lead.
