Penn State’s first home games of the season brought coach Jeff Kampersal his first win at the helm of the program.
The Nittany Lions won 3-1 and outshot the Dutchwomen 37-16 on Friday.
Forward Christi Vetter notched a shorthanded goal in the second period to open up the scoring for the Nittany Lions, however, Union defenseman Arianna Kosakowski quickly scored a power play goal to tie the game up at 1-1.
Then, eight minutes into the second period, forward Meike Mueller scored to put the Nittany Lions ahead and center Shea Nelson scored Penn State's third goal in the third period to expand the lead.
