Union came away with a 4-2 victory over the Nittany Lions, scoring three of their four goals on power play opportunities, which ended up being the difference in the game. The Dutchwomen had 10 total powerplay opportunities.
Union was able to capitalize on Penn State’s penalties on Saturday evening in Schenectady, N.Y.
“Special teams was a big difference in today’s game,” coach Josh Brandwene said. “They got the better of the result today. I give them credit for their hard work.”
The Lions fell behind 1-0 about halfway through the first period when Emily Erickson tallied her first score of the season.
