Penn State women’s associate head coach Rachelle Thompson will resign from her position on June 30, Penn State Athletics confirmed Friday.
The team’s head coach Jeff Thompson, who is Rachelle’s husband, will remain at Penn State.
In an email obtained by the Collegian that was sent from Rachelle Thompson’s account, Thompson said "it has become increasingly difficult for [her] to come to work each day with [her] normal passion.” The email was addressed to her “friends, family and team."
“As a result, I now find myself in a place I never imagined - walking away from a sport and a program that has meant the world to me,” the email read.
