Penn State women’s cross country won its first home match of the season at Friday’s Spiked Shoe Invitational, marking its second straight victory to open the year.
This is the sixth time in as many years that the Nittany Lion women have placed first in the event.
Penn State placed four runners in the top 11, paced by Jillian Hunsberger.
The senior continued her dominance in the six-kilometer race with a time of 21:07 to take first place.Last week Hunsberger won the six-kilometer race in the team’s regular season debut in Lock Haven and won Big Ten cross country Athlete of the Week.
