With its season ticking down, Penn State needed a win on Thursday to stay alive in the Big Ten Tournament – a race it had fallen to last place in following eight straight losses.
Despite being matched up against nine-win Purdue, the Lady Lions faltered, losing 92-85.
With a starting lineup of the five seniors, the blue and white found the scoreboard first with a free throw by Gabby Elliott.
A Purdue turnover gave the Lady Lions back possession, but the result was unsuccessful.
After back-and-forth misses from both Penn State and Purdue, the Boilermakers found a pair of baskets and took the lead.
