Penn State women’s basketball embraces National Girls and Women in Sports Day

Donning t-shirts with “It’s a great day to celebrate women in sports” on the front and “See her. Hear her. Support her. Empower her,” on the back, Penn State women’s basketball took the court against Washington on National Girls and Women in Sports Day.

Despite the loss, the Lady Lions used the important day as a way to empower the future generations of girls, some of which were in attendance for Wednesday’s game.

“I’m just happy to be out there,” graduate guard Gabby Elliott said. “Just continuing to inspire the next generation.”

In the wake of a four-game losing streak, bringing the season total to 13 losses, coach Carolyn Kieger continues to push her squad every day, teaching them to overcome adversity and pain.
