Just four days before the season begins, Penn State Football released the 2018 depth chart, and under the wide receiver column, there was a bit of a surprise. As expected, redshirt junior Juwan Johnson and senior DeAndre Thompkins won the outside wide receiver jobs. In the slot however, redshirt freshman K.J Hamler won the job over senior Brandon Polk.
Juwan Johnson will be Trace McSorely’s biggest target at wide receiver this year, literally and figuratively. The six-foot-four, 225-pound wide out was expected to breakout in 2017, but only caught one touchdown to go along with 701 yards on 54 receptions.
