Penn State uses big quarter from Chris Godwin, late Mike Gesicki TD grab, to pull within 27-21 of USC at half

Pasadena, Calif. -- What an eventful first 30 minutes at the Rose Bowl.

USC leads Penn State 27-21, as the points have come in bunches, Chris Godwin has already had a career day, and the Lions have punched back every time the Trojans have thrown a haymaker.

The day began with a brief panic attack for the blue and white, as kick returner Miles Sanders slipped and just barely recovered the opening kickoff at the PSU three yard line. It hardly matter, though, because Trace McSorley threw an interception a few plays later, something he'd do once more in the first half.
