Penn State track, field sends 21 athletes to NCAA outdoor championships

Twenty-one members of Penn State track and field are headed to Eugene, Oregon for the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

On the track, the men's 4x100-meter relay team of Malik Moffett, Karson Kowalchuk, Xavier Smith and Dan Chisena broke their own school record by .40 seconds en route to qualifying for the NCAA outdoor championships at the NCAA East Preliminary

First-Rounds in Lexington, Kentucky. The relay team posted a time of 39.08 to win their heat, which automatically qualified the athletes for advancement.

Penn State hasn't sent a 4x100-meter relay team to the national competition since 1973.

Moffett, who is the Big Ten champion in the men's 200-meter dash, also earned a third bid to the national competition after posting a time of 20.
