On the first day of the Penn State National Open, the home team took full advantage of being back home.
The 60-meter event turned in plenty of good performances for Penn State.
For the men's team, senior Xavier Smith earned bragging rights for first place after racing 6.72 seconds. Teammates Malik Moffett and Terrance Laird were breathing right down Smith's neck, as the two finished right behind him with the times of 6.75 and 6.78 respectively. Their performances were good enough to earn third and fifth place.
The women were able to find similar success in the 60-meter as Junior Keianna Albury ran away with first in the event after recording 7.
