Abdul Carter spent his first two seasons at Penn State playing linebacker, and proved to be a very good one at that. He earned second team all-conference in 2022 and first team all-conference honors in 2023, but despite the accolades, there was another level for Carter to get to. Given his larger 6-foot-3 frame for a linebacker and penchant for getting after the quarterback, he went to the coaching staff before spring practice last year and asked to be moved to defensive end full-time. And, as they say, the rest was history.
Carter went onto to have one of the greatest seasons a Penn State defender has ever had, totaling 12 sacks and an astounding 24 TFLs through 16 games.
