UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State is headed to Jacksonville, Fla., to play Georgia in the TaxSlayer Bowl on Jan. 2 at EverBank Field.
While selection Sunday didn’t come with much suspense as both schools were among the last wave to confirm their acceptance to the bowl and other bowls were filled with Big Ten teams, these two teams last met in 1983 in the Sugar Bowl, a game Penn State won 27-23 to claim the national title. This will be just the second meeting between the teams and marks Penn State’s 46th bowl appearance.
The game is slated for a noon start and will air on ESPN.
