UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Quarterback Christian Hackenberg took off toward the end zone on a celebratory run looking, for his 6-foot-6 tight end whose 33-yard touchdown catch helped jump-start an otherwise struggling offense.
“To be completely honest, I kind of blacked out running in the end zone,” Mike Gesicki said Saturday after Penn State’s 20-14 win against Army. “It’s definitely been a long road, ups and downs, but just happy for that opportunity and really happy to get that win.”
Moments like that, the first touchdown catch of the sophomore tight end’s Penn State career, are what Gesicki envisioned when Hackenberg hosted him on his official visit two years ago.
