UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – James Franklin doesn’t want Penn State’s identity to be winning ugly, but Saturday afternoon against Indiana, the Lions’ second year head coach took whatever he could get – and however he could get it.
The Lions, working without starting running back Akeel Lynch, freshman standout back Saquon Barkley and center Angelo Mangiro, who all missed the game due to injury, started to find their footing as an offense. Quarterback Christian Hackenberg took shots down the field with his deep ball and even kept plays alive with his legs, recording two rushing touchdowns to go along with his two passing scores.
